Hey! I’m Lucas Vianna, guitarist for Mashup Band.
Let me tell you a bit about me and my journey in music.
I was born on March 20, 1989, in this tiny town called Piraju. It’s a chill little spot with a beautiful river. So, here’s a funny story: my mom was in the hospital, and apparently, I didn’t feel like coming out. Then, in the afternoon, my mom’s cousin showed up with his guitar and played a serenade outside the hospital window. Guess what? A few hours later, at 1am, I finally decided to make my grand entrance into the world. Crazy, right?
I grew up in Bauru, and that’s where my music journey kicked off.
When I was about 12, I found this old, beat-up acoustic guitar gathering dust on top of a wardrobe. It barely had any strings, but something about it just clicked with me. I spent hours messing around, trying to make it sing.
Meet Lucas Vianna

Eventually, my parents got me some new strings, and my mom taught me four basic chords. Blew. My. Mind. After that, I hit up a newsstand and grabbed a magazine full of song charts. That’s how I learned a ton of chords and started jamming out to all kinds of songs.
Things were cruising until my buddy Pedro rolled in with an electric guitar and an amp. The second I heard him play, I was hooked. I needed an electric guitar. But, of course, my parents couldn’t afford one at the time. I had to wait forever, but eventually, I got my first black Eagle Stratocaster and a super cheap amp. Not great gear, but man, I was over the moon.
That’s when I started to see music differently, not just chords but solos, riffs, the whole deal.
Then Pedro hit me with the Sweet Child O’ Mine intro, and everything changed.
The thing is, he was taking guitar lessons, and I wasn’t. So, yep, my parents had another problem on their hands. But as always, they came through and managed to get me into guitar lessons.
When I was 16, I met Lucas Dias, and we started a classic rock band. We kept playing together for years, went to the same music college, and always dreamed of making it big as professional musicians.
At 26, I decided to pack my bags and move to São Paulo, the big city, where all the action happens.
I wanted to go full-time as a musician, and São Paulo was the place to make it happen.

While playing in this small band, I came across an audition call for We Will Rock You, a musical featuring only Queen songs. Being a massive Brian May fan, I had to give it a shot.
I went through the auditions, and after two weeks, I got the call: I was in! Brian May himself was supervising everything from his home in the UK.
Man, it was wild. My first legit gig: international production, pros everywhere, and top-notch equipment. I felt like I was living the dream.

And that’s where I met Keka. She was part of the cast, and one day, she came up to me after a performance. She said, “Lucas, you’re killing it, but I know you’ve got more in you. I want to see you OWN that stage. Get on your knees, rock out, and give that solo everything you’ve got, like a true rockstar!” That moment stuck with me. She wasn’t just pushing me to play better, she wanted me to feel it, to leave it all on the stage. That’s how our story began.
Fast forward to 2017, my buddy Julian moved to São Paulo and hit me up with this crazy idea: starting a band that would play mashups mixing two or more songs together in a totally unique way.
I told him he had to see Keka perform. As soon as he saw her, he was like, “Yeah, she’s in.”
And that’s how Mashup Band was born.
Mashup was totally new for me. We gelled as a group, and the whole concept of mashup arrangements was just so fresh and exciting. I got to dive into all kinds of genres and step out of my comfort zone, leaving my classic rock safety net behind.
And here I am, all these years later.

When I’m not jamming, I’m usually out riding motorcycles. Keka and I love hopping on our bike and hitting the road for weekend getaways. That’s my ultimate way to unwind.
Here are five fun facts about me that only a few people know:
1. I used to work at my dad’s pest control company. I’ve faced more pests than I can count.
2. Back in the day, I was a swimmer and competed all over for my town.
3. I’m a total pro when it comes to baking meringue. It’s a killer family recipe.
4. I’m a total history nerd and love visiting historical sites.
5. Before the guitar, I played trumpet as a kid.
So, there you have it, some stuff about me you probably didn’t know.
Take care, and catch you at a Mashup Band show sometime!
