Yo, what’s up everyone!
I’m Lucas Dias, drummer for Mashup Band, yup... The Beast!
I thought I’d share a bit of my story with you. Let’s vibe.
So, I was born on November 22, 1987, in Marília, Brazil, but I grew up in a tiny town called Gália. Music has been in my life forever, like, literally. My dad played guitar, my mom sang, and fun fact: I was born on Saint Cecilia’s Day, the patron saint of musicians. No pressure, right?
Meet Lucas Dias

At home, there were always instruments lying around, guitars, a keyboard, but I was all about making noise. Pots and pans were my first "drum kit." My parents wanted me to stick to guitar or keyboard, though. I even took lessons, but drums? Man, that was my thing. They thought it was too loud and impractical, but I couldn’t shake the dream.
I was a shy, quiet kid who loved soccer. For a hot minute, I thought I’d be a pro player, but spoiler: I wasn’t great. I ended up as a goalkeeper and realized soccer was just for fun. When I was 4, we moved to Duartina, where I went through my soccer phase. But the real magic happened when we moved to Bauru, a bigger city.

After years of begging, my mom finally said I could play drums, but only if I took lessons first. I was 13 when I started, and by 14, I had my first drum set. The catch? We lived in an apartment, so I had to stash my kit at a friend’s music school. That’s how my first band started, with school friends.
Playing drums hit different. I’d tried guitar and keyboard, but nothing clicked like this. My parents kept pushing me to try other instruments, but I always came back to the drums.

In college, I had a band with Lucas Vianna, playing classic rock, and I joined a bunch of other bands in Bauru and nearby cities. One of them toured São Paulo state for seven years. Bars, private gigs, college parties, you name it. It was wild. On those tours, I met Julian (Ian’s brother) and Leo, who were in another band hitting the same spots as me.
While all this was going on, I started teaching music to kids and adults. I loved it, but as the gigs piled up, I had to choose: teaching or performing. Live music won.

Through my teenage years, I was all about rock bands. I kept up with lessons, always trying to level up my skills. Still, I wasn’t sure about my future. I even tried studying geography for a while, but it wasn’t it. By 17, I decided to go all in and study music.
When Julian, Keka, and Lucas V invited me to join Mashup Band, I had a massive choice to make: move to São Paulo, leave everything behind in Bauru, and go all in on this project. The goal? Think big, take our music global, and create something that could connect with people everywhere. Mashup is all about breaking boundaries and using music to explore the world.
Here are 5 random facts about me:
1. I’ve played in an orchestra at weddings.
2. I “auditioned” for Mashup by commenting on their Facebook video: "You guys need a drummer!"
3. I’ve got a home studio where I record—it’s another thing I’m passionate about.
4. I’m a night owl. Late nights are my jam.
5. I love wine and chocolate. Perfect combo for chill nights.
Living off music and sharing the stage with such talented friends? That’s the dream right there. Music isn’t just a career, it’s my life.
Thanks for sticking around to hear my story.
Catch you later!
